The AUDALYTIC DR80 and DR80n combine proprietary 26-bit complementary R-2R conversion with native 1-bit DSD decoding, analog volume control, and balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs. Both support high-resolution playback through USB, coaxial, optical, I2S, and Bluetooth inputs. Choose the DR80 for use with your existing digital sources or the DR80n to add an integrated CelWare network bridge.
Both models share the same core conversion architecture and analog output features. The DR80n adds a network bridge with LAN connectivity and a microSD slot. Its streaming platform supports Roon Bridge, AirPlay, UPnP, HQPlayer NAA, Qobuz Connect, and TME Connect, giving you additional ways to send music to the DAC.
The discrete R-2R modules convert digital information into an analog signal by switching a precision resistor network. Their 26-bit complementary conversion architecture depends on closely matched resistors to maintain accuracy. Custom FPGA logic handles clock management and digital shaping.
Native 1-bit DSD decoding gives DSD files their own conversion path. In DSD Direct mode, the incoming bitstream feeds a 1-bit switch-array decoder and bypasses PCM conversion throughout. USB and the DR80n streamer support native DSD up to DSD1024, while the I2S input accepts native DSD up to DSD2048.
The USB audio interface uses a custom solution developed by GUSTARD and Italy’s Amanero. Built around an ARM Cortex-M7 processor, it provides the processing capacity and low-latency operation needed for high-rate playback. USB supports PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz, native DSD1024, and DoP up to DSD512.
Co-developed with Cel Audio, the DR80n’s CelWare network bridge pairs dedicated playback hardware with the CelWare 5.x operating system. Its optimized Linux kernel uses hardware-priority scheduling to reduce latency and jitter along the audio path. You can disable unused bridge protocols through dr80.local on a Windows or Mac browser, or through the dedicated Bridge app on Android and iOS.
A CK-01 femto-grade clock module supplies timing for the DAC. Segmented filtering and multiple regulated power rails help limit interference between circuit sections. Both models include an internal low-noise power supply and accept an external 12–15V DC supply.
An onboard analog volume-control IC provides fine level adjustment, with a true bypass mode for use with an external volume control. The low-impedance analog output driver accommodates a wide range of downstream loads. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs can operate simultaneously, with fixed output levels of 4Vrms and 2Vrms respectively.
Connect a computer through USB, a digital transport through coaxial or optical, or a compatible I2S source through the HDMI-style connector. Four selectable I2S pinout modes help match compatible source devices. Bluetooth 5.1 uses a Qualcomm QCC5125 chipset and supports LDAC, AAC, SBC, aptX, aptX LL, and aptX HD.
Three digital filters, NOS mode, and DSD Direct provide selectable playback options. Front-panel touch controls and IR remote support make everyday adjustments accessible. The LCD offers adjustable brightness and a sleep mode, while the anodized aluminum chassis comes in black or silver.
