The Burson Soloist Prime is a pure Class-A headphone power amplifier. Part of Burson’s flagship Voyager Series, it delivers up to 12W per channel through balanced XLR with true dual-mono architecture, V7 Vivid Pro discrete opamps, and dedicated IEM amplification. Choose Deluxe for the Super Charger 5A power supply and a dual-chip IEM module, or Max for the Fusion Core 24V GaN power supply and a fully discrete Class-A IEM stage.
The Soloist Prime focuses on headphone power amplification, leaving volume adjustment to your upstream component. Removing duplicated controls and preamplifier functions allows its circuitry to concentrate on delivering current and control to demanding headphones. Pair it with a source or preamplifier that provides volume control.
High-performance MOSFET power transistors and deep Class-A bias support up to 12W per channel through the balanced XLR output. This gives power-hungry planar magnetic headphones substantial output headroom while supporting high-end dynamic headphones.
The Soloist Prime uses true dual-mono architecture with mirror-symmetrical left and right channels. Its two-layer construction places power circuitry above the amplification circuitry, with fully separated channels and carefully zoned sections. Each section is independently powered and custom-shielded to help keep electrical noise out of the signal path.
Both versions include Silent Power Module 02 with an LT3045 regulator. The module has a specified noise level of 0.8 µV RMS, providing low-noise power for the amplification circuitry. This specification describes the power module’s noise rather than the amplifier’s overall output noise.
V7 Vivid Pro discrete opamps are included with both Deluxe and Max. Drawing on Burson’s two decades of opamp development, they are designed to support dynamics, texture, and transparency throughout the amplification stage.
The Soloist Prime Deluxe pairs the Super Charger 5A power supply with an independently powered IEM module using two TPA6120A2 amplifier chips. This dedicated stage accommodates sensitive IEMs alongside the main headphone amplifier. Deluxe also includes Silent Power Module 02, V7 Vivid Pro opamps, and a dual-tone remote.
The Soloist Prime Max includes everything in the deluxe version and adds the Fusion Core 24V GaN power supply; plus, it upgrades the IEM stage to a fully discrete, fully Class-A design. Its IEM module uses true dual-mono, mirror-symmetrical circuitry with 10W of idle power consumption and is purpose-built for sensitive, low-impedance IEMs. The Fusion Core supply is designed to provide low-noise, high-current power for demanding playback.
Optimized ventilation supports heat management during Class-A operation. Burson’s thermal design helps the amplifier maintain stable performance with deep Class-A bias.
