The Cayin CP6 combines portable CD playback, a USB DAC, bidirectional Bluetooth, digital transport functions, and a fully-balanced headphone amplifier in a compact aluminum chassis. Dual Cirrus Logic DACs, matched JAN6418 NOS tubes, selectable Class A and Class AB amplification, and three switchable timbre modes give listeners direct control over how CDs, digital sources, and wireless audio are presented.
One-touch timbre switching lets you choose between Classic Tube, Modern Tube, and Solid-State modes. Classic Tube delivers a warm, smooth, vocal-rich balance. Modern Tube opens the presentation with greater space, detail, and dynamics. Solid-State provides a clean, neutral, and transparent signal path.
A matched pair of Raytheon JAN6418 military-grade NOS tubes operates in a dual-channel Class A amplification circuit. A dedicated 22 V low-noise power supply and DC filament design reduce hum while preserving resolution, giving the tube modes a controlled and articulate character.
Two Cirrus Logic CS4308P 32-bit, eight-channel DACs operate in mono mode for fully parallel differential current output. Dual TI OPA1612 I/V conversion and low-pass filtering stages support low noise, low distortion, and accurate channel separation.
The four-channel discrete amplifier uses dual TI OPA1652 op-amps and Nexperia power transistors in a push-pull current stage. It supports headphones from 8Ω to 600Ω, with separate 0.14-inch (3.5 mm) single-ended and 0.17-inch (4.4 mm) balanced outputs.
Selectable Class A and Class AB operation lets you adjust the amplifier’s behaviour for different headphones and music. Class A provides a smoother, warmer presentation with lower distortion, while Class AB increases efficiency, dynamics, and available output power.
A JRC NJW1195A four-channel electronic controller provides fully-balanced volume adjustment in 0.5 dB steps. The onsemi FSA2275 audio switch supports low-resistance signal routing, low THD+N, and reduced switching noise.
A custom anti-shock CD mechanism, precision laser pickup, and professional servo system support stable disc reading and error correction. CDs can also be archived in lossless format to compatible FAT32 storage devices.
The 16-core XMOS XU316 USB platform supports UAC 2.0 and UAC 1.0 operation with Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux devices. Asynchronous data transmission and a precision clock system help reduce jitter before the signal reaches the DAC stage.
The Qualcomm QCC3083 Bluetooth platform supports both receive and transmit modes. Receive mode handles SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and LDAC, while transmit mode supports SBC, aptX, aptX HD, and aptX Adaptive for direct connection to wireless headphones and speakers.
The CP6 can operate as a CD player, digital transport, USB DAC, Bluetooth receiver, or Bluetooth transmitter. Line output is available through the 0.14-inch (3.5 mm) and 0.17-inch (4.4 mm) connections, with coaxial and optical digital output for use with external DACs and audio systems.
A 7300 mAh, 3.85 V lithium-ion battery provides up to 7.5 hours of playback. The CP6 can switch between battery and external DC power, supports QC and PD fast charging, and allows charge-and-play operation under the control of a TI BQ25895 charging management circuit.
The chassis is machined from 6063 aluminum alloy with a fine 180-grit sandblasted finish and hard-anodized coating. A damped lid holds its position at different opening angles, while the tinted top window limits direct laser exposure without interfering with playback.
A 2.3-inch (58.4 mm) display shows playback status, settings, and track information. Dedicated transport buttons, a textured volume wheel, and a Hold switch provide direct operation while helping prevent accidental input during transport.
