The Orchard Audio Valencia MG is a fully-balanced headphone power amplifier designed for high output power, low noise, and precise control across headphones from 16 ohms to 600 ohms. Its massively parallel high-current Class-AB architecture delivers up to 17 W into 32 ohms, while the updated MG version adds modifiable 14 dB and 0 dB gain settings to better accommodate headphones with different sensitivities.
The Valencia MG uses a proprietary fully-balanced signal path from input to output. Balanced XLR inputs connect it to compatible DACs and preamplifiers while helping maintain signal integrity through the amplification stage. An RCA-to-XLR converter can be used when connecting an unbalanced source.
The MG version allows the amplifier gain to be configured for either 14 dB or 0 dB. The 14 dB setting provides additional gain for lower-sensitivity headphones, while the 0 dB setting is suited to high-sensitivity headphones that do not require as much voltage gain. Valencia MG can also be ordered with the preferred gain setting preconfigured.
The Valencia MG is strictly a power amplifier and does not include onboard volume control. Output level must be managed by a connected DAC, preamplifier, or another source with variable output. This keeps the amplifier focused on amplification while allowing volume control to remain elsewhere in the signal chain.
Massively parallel high-current Class-AB buffers provide substantial output capability for demanding headphones. Valencia MG delivers 17 W into 32 ohms and 3.24 W into 150 ohms, with up to 1.2 A of peak current. Its 0.02-ohm output impedance helps maintain controlled operation across a wide range of headphone loads.
Each channel uses an independent linear regulator with its own 1000 µF rail capacitor. These dedicated power reserves support stable current delivery during demanding passages and help the amplifier maintain control under difficult loads.
The Valencia MG is designed for headphones from 16 ohms to 600 ohms. Its combination of configurable gain, high output power, and substantial current capability makes it suitable for both difficult-to-drive headphones and more sensitive models when configured appropriately.
With 7 W of output into 8 ohms, the Valencia MG can also provide power for suitable high-sensitivity loudspeakers. Its compact chassis measures 9.5 in × 9.25 in × 3 in (24.1 cm × 23.5 cm × 7.6 cm), allowing it to fit comfortably into desktop and dedicated headphone systems.
